It is a nice tradition of our Mission to give people an icon of their saint, a white prayer rope and their godparents give them an Orthodox cross/necklace at their baptism/chrismation. We also have their baptismal robes made for them and they keep them for their burial.

It was nice to meet you too, Diana...so did I show up in the picture or am I REALLY imaginary still? LOL!

Fr. James, thanks...it is "Facial Hair 6.0" I think. I call it "Russian monkabee" my wife calls it "homeless scraggly", my non-Orthodox clients call it "Billy Gibbons". But then he IS a saint in Texas.... :)

Many years!

Looks like at least 2 possibly 3 are related to each other - same smile!

Your mission's doing well to get a "fivesies". In my time, our crew mostly manages onesies.

wow. it is the exact opposite of the year I was baptised/chrismated! (ratio of male/female) But hey, you could always use more ladies right?

SP,

I love the video. Some small differences from our parish but the rest very much the same. I caught myself saying Sealed ... Sealed...Sealed...

It's good to see the same liturgy, to remind us of our ties to the saints, the holy martyrs, to each other.

Very cool beard. Since I no longer go to work mine is beginning to really sprout. But I have a long way to go.

Glory to God! And killer beard, man.

If you keep that beard, people might start calling you "Elder Steven of the Arizona Desert" or something similar. :-)

Do you play guitar? Perhaps you could get a side job standing in for Billy Gibbons when he gets sick. ;-)

BTW, off topic, but I have very much enjoyed the latest OLIC podcasts. I think re-releasing the old programs from the archives is a great idea.

Steve, Thank you for capturing the day's beauty, mystery, and unspeakable joy. I have never experienced such love lavished upon me so deeply and completely. During the baptism and chrismation, every one of my senses was awakened to Christ's holy presence. I never wanted it to end. I am so blessed to now be a newly illumined at STJEOM. Julie Mary

Fr. James,
Well, my wife calls me "old man", now if only I can get her to call me that in Greek (Geronda), I could get really deluded. As if I need help... :) I have in fact played guitar and I have a LOT of really nice gear, unfortunately construction has taken a toll on my hands and I can't play very well anymore. sigh.
Julie...its great to have you as part of the family. Now its time to get to work. :)
